Bladder control problems are fairly common, and are often caused by pregnancy, or are included in the aging process. There are many other medical conditions that can lead to bladder control problems as well. Bladder control problems can be very embarrassing and lead to problems having a normal social life for many people. There are not many medical treatments that are available, and many rely on using adult style diapers. However, there are some herbs that have been shown to help improve patients that suffer from this condition.
Wild Yam and Valerian for Bladder Control ProblemsWild yam root contains a natural alkanoid that helps to relax the muscles that are located in the abdomen. Wild yam is also rich in saponins, which help to relieve inflammation, which can also be beneficial for those with bladder control problems. Wild yam can be taken in supplemental form, but also can be used in tea form by using the bark in powder form.
Valerian has been used for hundreds of years as a medicinal herb, and in more recent years has been shown to help those with bladder control problems. Valerian works by helping to smooth the muscles and has a calming effect. Although the exact reason is not fully known, valerian does seem to help many patients that suffer from this condition.
Dong Quai for Bladder Control ProblemsDong quai contains many nutrients that work to increase the effects of ovarian hormones. Some medical professionals suggest women with bladder control issues take 500 mg a day of dong quai. This treatment is usually suggested to women that are currently dealing with menopause. However, this treatment should not be used by women with heavy bleeding or those that have blood clotting problems.
Although these herbs can be very effective in helping those with bladder control problems, they should never be used to replace anything that has been prescribed by a doctor. They also should never be used to replace any suggestions that have been given by any type of medical professional.
